Albert J. Hytonen
SOUTH WEBER, UT – Our loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Albert John Hytonen, 78, died Friday, February 15, 2008 in Ogden, UT.
He was born August 16, 1929 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, a son of Onni August and Tyyne Salo Hytonen. He spent his first 18 years in Soumi, Minnesota.
Bert was a loyal husband to Nadene Grafton for 35 years.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was a High Priest.
Bert served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a high school biology teacher for 33 years in Redding, California. He was also a naturalist during the summers for the California State Park System.
Bert was an avid sports fan and coached little league baseball for 15 years. He was an enthusiastic outdoors man enjoying camping and backpacking with his family. He also had great respect for wildlife and enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. His favorite place was Little Bow String Lake in Soumi, Minnesota.
Surviving are one son and two daughters, Chris L. Hytonen, South Weber, UT; Melinda Einck, Red Bluff, CA; Megan Hytonen Alston, Orland, CA; eight grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah, Brandon, Gus, Mitch, Hilary, Daisy and Jacob; six great-grandchildren, Bryce, Ashlei, Andrea, Brooke, Branden and Jackson; and two nephews, Desmond and Ronald Rash.
Preceding Bert in death was his sister, Miriam Rash.
Memorial services will be held Friday, February 22 at 11:30 a.m. at the Anderson, California LDS Stake Center, 4075 Riverside Ave., Anderson, CA.
Family will meet friends at the Stake Center on Friday from 11 to 11:30 a.m.
