Albert Stoddard

January 6, 1939 ~ May 23, 2017

Albert Stoddard passed away peacefully in his home on May 23, 2017.  Born on January 6, 1939, to Wyman Miner Stoddard and Annie Louisa Brown, he was raised in St. Anthony, Idaho.  After graduating from South Fremont High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1957; serving in Astoria, Oregon.

Al married Carol Martineau on June 30, 1961, and they were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.  They raised four children in Boise and Pocatello, Idaho.  As a small business owner, Al operated Stoddard Supply, a concrete construction supply outlet, in Pocatello and Idaho Falls, and was known as a concrete expert.  After retiring, Al and Carol bought and remodeled his parents’ home in St. Anthony where they lived until 2001 when they relocated to Farr West, Utah.

He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many callings.

Al never met a home improvement job he didn’t like; often helping his children and neighbors with their projects.  He and Carol remodeled two homes during their marriage, and there are driveways and foundations with the footprints and names of his children in most every home they owned.  He was a loving husband and father and loyal friend.  Al enjoyed golfing, fishing, softball, and basketball, but was never happier than when he did any activity with his family.

Al is survived by his wife, Carol; their children, Tracy Goertzen, Brad (Gina) Stoddard, Dan (Barbie) Stoddard, and Alan (Stephanie) Stoddard; eight grandchildren, and his sister, Leone Biorn.  He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, three sisters, and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Westwood Ward, 2123 North 2000 West, Farr West.  Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the church.  Interment, Ammon Cemetery, Ammon, Idaho on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
