Alberta Mae Gailey
OGDEN a" Alberta Mae Sevy Gailey, 83, returned to her Heavenly Father while surrounded by loved ones, on Sunday, July 6, 2008 in Ogden.
She was born July 18, 1924 in Ogden, a daughter of Otho Cameron and Rhoda Alberta Blakeman Sevy. She attended schools in Ogden City, Weber County and Garfield County, graduating from Weber High School in June of 1942.
Mae married Darrel Heber Gailey on August 8, 1942 in Riverdale and later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They had six children, Lila Mae, Gloria Lynette, Otho Darrel, Dennis Ray, Ricky Gene and Charles Heber Gailey.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served 12 years as first counselor in the Relief Society under three presidents. She also served as a Blazer B teacher, Sunday School secretary and leader in the Sunday School. She had a love of genealogy and served a two year genealogy mission in Ogden.
Mae was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Red Rock Camp, Downey, Idaho Chapter.
She loved the outdoors, crocheting, knitting, and above all, spending time with her family. The many afghans, dish cloths, coasters, and doll dresses will be missed. But most all we will miss our Birthday Card!
Surviving are her husband Darrel, sister, Shirley Smith, three children, Dennis (Marsha) Gailey, Chuck (Julie) Gailey, Brigham City; Rick (Pauline) Gailey, Clearfield; 24 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Lila and Lynette, a son, Darrel, a grandson, Cody Gailey and a great-grandson, Clinton Dabb.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
