Our beloved mother, devoted grandmother, aunt, and dear friend to all, Alberta May Hancey, 79, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 2, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 12, 1934 in Ogden to Thomas Andrew and Carrie May Batchelor Stamey Smith. She was raised in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1952 and Weber State in 1967.
Alberta "Sam" worked at Hill Air Force Base as an electronic technician for 28 years retiring in 1996. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Alberta married her sweetheart, Joseph Orin "J.O." Peterson, on January 7, 1953. J.O. passed away on May 15, 1956. She married her best friend, Lynn Harlem Hancey, on April 12, 1958. They were later divorced, but remained best friends until his passing in 1985.
Mom loved life, family, friends, and all the extended family that passed through her life. She was the instigator of all the crazy things this family did. She loved holidays, birthdays, and spoiled us all.
There are no words to say how much we all will miss her, but knowing she is at peace and watching over us all will bring comfort.
Alberta is survived by her son, Gordan (Robin) Hancey; daughters, Peggy (Jed) Skeen, Sandra (Mark) Tabor, Heather Hancey, and JaLynn (Brad) Hancey; dear friends, Shirley Morse and Connie Hancey, and many nieces and nephews. She has ten amazing grandchildren and eight beautiful great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, James Stamey, Don Stamey, and Elaine Hansen.
Per Mom''s wishes there will be no services. Remember her loving giving spirit. Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at any America First Credit Union in the name of Alberta S. Hancey.
