"TOGETHER AGAIN"

Alberta "Birdie" W. Pittman returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 23, 2011.

Birdie was born on November 15, 1923 in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was the daughter of John L. Wright and Sarah Ida Buck. She was raised in Ogden, Utah by her mother and loving step-father James Varney.

Birdie was married to Colon D. Pittman on March 20, 1943 in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized on February 12, 2005 in the Ogden Temple.

Birdie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in the Primary, Relief Society, as a Visiting Teacher and in the scouting program.

Birdie loved serving others as her loving cards and bouquets of flowers were sent regularly to family, friends and fellow church members.

Birdie loved croqueting and making afghans for all of her children and grandchildren. Every grandchild and great-grandchild has received her baby blankets and bibs that she lovingly made for them.

Birdie worked at the Ogden Defense Depot during WWII in the munitions department. She loved telling her stories and experiences.

Birdie worked as a school cook with the Davis County School District at Layton Elementary and Central Davis Jr. High where her children attended.

Birdie loved cooking and baking, often taking meals to the neighbors, elderly and sick.

Birdie enjoyed and missed the time she spent in retirement with her husband fishing and camping at Strawberry Reservoir. Birdie especially loved the time she spent living at Apple Village Assisted Living. She participated in many activities and loved the friends and staff.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, son Bryant, her parents, two sisters, three brothers, step-brother and three step-sisters.

She is survived by her loving children, Nancy L. King, Norma P. Page, Grant D. Pittman (Cindy), daughter-in-law Christie Pittman and a great posterity of 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.

Birdie will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her family.

The family would like to express their loving gratitude to Apple Village Assisted Living and Applegate Hospice for the loving care that was offered to their mom and grandmother.
