Alden Carlos Arrington

Alden Carlos Arrington, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. He was born on April 11, 1925 to Robert Glenn and Annie Lunett Tuttle Arrington in Twin Falls, Idaho, where he was raised. He graduated from high school before enlisting in the US Army, serving in WWII as an infantry paratrooper in the 517 th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant.
He met Betty Jean Hoth at a church function and they courted and were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on September 15, 1949. They raised seven children together and made their home in North Ogden.
Alden worked for the US Forest Service during his college years at Utah State Agricultural College and was a telephone equipment and radio operator, finishing out his career in electronics as a Division Chief at Hill Air Force Base, retiring in 1987 with a DoD Rank of full Colonel.
He was an advanced H.A.M. Radio operator. He loved gardening, hunting, camping, and fishing. He was a storyteller and loved spending time with his family and friends.
Alden is survived by his children, Patricia (Rulon) Jemmett, Hermiston, OR; Kathryn (Lyle) Thorney, Nibley, UT; Dale (MaryAnn) Arrington, West Valley, UT; Robert Arrington, West Valley, UT; Nancy (Jay) Thomas, Ogden, UT; Penny (Blair) Butler, West Roy, UT and Janis (Tony) Kelley, Woodville, ID; brother, Lee O. (Larraine) Arrington, Rochester, NY; sister, Gilda Garrison, Twin Falls, ID; sisters-in-law, Janelle, Louise, Teddy, and Helen; and brother-in-law, Francis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers, Howard, Lewis, Norman, and Golden; and sisters, Annie Belle, Mildred, Elsie, and Emma.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 11 a.m. at North Ogden 5 th Ward Chapel, 626 East 2600 North. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd., and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
