Alex J. Montoya
CLEARFIELD – Alex J. Montoya, 77, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009.
He was born October 21, 1931 in La Jara, NM; the son of Epifanio and Desideria Montoya.
Alex served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.
Alex married Flossie on September 7, 1953 in NM.
He retired from Hill AFB in 1987. Alex loved going to Wendover with his Honito, watching sports especially the Denver Broncos and the Jazz. He liked traveling and camping in his motorhome, and in his younger days riding his motorcycle and going deer hunting.
Alex loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was always ready for a quick game of 21. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years Flossie, son, Lee (Jane) Montoya, daughters, Anita (Bob) Montoya-Sharpe, Cindy (George) Cole, Jolanda (Lonnie) Martinez, brother, Leo Montoya, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 17, 2009 at 9 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 So. Chapel Street, Layton. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Prayer service 7 p.m.
Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.
