Our angel daughter, Alexis “Ali” Rael McCashland was taken from this Earth on June 10, 2016 in a tragic car accident. She was born August 22, 1996 in Sacramento, California and arrived in Mark and Trudy McCashland’s home in West Jordan, Utah on September 13, 1996.
Ali had a great love of people and a desire to serve others. She attended schools in Layton and graduated from Layton High School in 2014. While there she participated in many clubs including class officer her sophomore and junior years. One year she painted the Lancer on the football field for homecoming. She loved to play sports, including soccer and softball. Her greatest love was drawing and doing art work. From an early age, Ali was always drawing or painting something. She also loved to take pictures, particularly selfies as indicated by all the pictures on her bedroom wall. As a child, she used her creativity to make movies together with her friends. She also loved her dog Daisy and often found pictures of the two of them on social media. Thankfully, Daisy was with her to the end and survived their car accident.
Her greatest attribute was her vivacious smile. She naturally attracted friends and was very loyal to them. Recent posts on Facebook attest to how many people she influenced. She was kind to everyone she came in contact with. During high school she wanted to go to Africa and serve, and so with her close friend, they went to Africa and dug wells and taught young girls how to use feminine hygiene kits. It was a life changing experience.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, participating in many youth activities. She was also a seminary graduate.
At the time of her passing, she was working at H&M as a sales advisor. She loved this job and those she worked with. She also worked as a softball umpire while in high school. She loved Star Wars, Harry Potter, pizza, donuts, socks, mashed potatoes, popcorn and blue Powerade.
She is survived by her parents, Mark and Trudy McCashland, Layton, and her sister Hannah (David) Cook, Layton. Her grandparents Lamoine and Ellen McCashland (Pocatello), uncles and aunts, Raylene and Reed Hansen (Montpelier), Kelly and Amy Ward (Boise), Gail and Brett Robbins (Idaho Falls), Danny and Charlene Ward (Boise), Jan and Raymond Welsh (Perry), David and Trenna McCashland (Boise), Mike and Brenda McCashland (Teton, ID), Ruth Ann McCashland (Boise), Camille McCashland (Boise) and numerous cousins.
