Alice Pearson Beus
January 23, 1922 ~ January 13, 2016
My mother, Alice Pearson Beus passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016. She was born to Matilda Laws and Niels A. Pearson on January 23, 1922 in Malad, Idaho. She was raised and went to school in Ogden and Salt Lake City and graduated from East High School in 1940.
Mom went to work at the Ogden Arsenal during the World War II and married my father, William Green after a short time they divorced. After the war mom married my stepfather Wilford “Mel” Smith. They had two children Brent Melvin and Gayle. Both preceded mom in death.
After mom graduated from Stevens Henager, she worked at J.C. Penney Co. as a secretary to the manager and advertising manager. Even though she liked her work and friendships at Penneys, when the opportunity came to her she left Penneys and went to work for the Internal Revenue Service and retired from there after many years.
Mom enjoyed sewing and made countless dresses, tops, pants, and blankets for her granddaughters and great-granddaughters. She loved her yard with her roses and iris. An African Violet would always be in bloom in her house. I guess over 20 of them you would say, she had a “green thumb”.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann Ash; three grandchildren, Kevin Dee (Lori) Allen, Christine (Kenny) Terkelson, and Dena (Jeremy) Ercanbrack; stepdaughter, Patricia Parrish; and great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit family on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Private family graveside services will be held.
The family would like to thank Access Hospice and the gals for their loving care of mom.
