Alice Virginia Craft

Alice Virginia Craft, 86, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017.
She was born December 29, 1930 in the Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas to Victor Owen Woodiel and Anna M. Jewel Holland. She attended the University of Arkansas and finished her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Nevada – Reno and later received her Master’s degree in Secondary Education with a Reading Specialist emphasis from Brigham Young University.
On June 19, 1953, she married Edward “Roy” Craft in Hawthorne, Nevada.
She started her career in accounting but found her love and passion in teaching. She taught Kindergarten and fifth grade and was “Teacher of the Year” for Nevada before she moved on to work for the Department of Defense on the military bases of England as a Reading Specialist helping children of all ages to improve their reading. Living in England she could travel with her family all over Europe, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean.
She was an active member of the Revere Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Alice is survived by her three sons, Roy Lyle (Lynn Wilkinson) Craft, Wichita, KS; Gregory Ray (Kari Ann Burke) Craft, Hooper, UT; David “Bruce” (Susan Martineau) Craft, Sandy, UT; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Williams, Yerington, NV.
We wish to express our heartfelt appreciation to Ericka and Priscilla from Dignity who served Alice wonderfully.
Fulfilling Mom’s wishes there will be a Memorial at Olympus Ranch, 971 E. 5600 S., Murray, UT on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 11 a.m. A Graveside Service will follow on Monday, August 7th at 3 p.m. at the Hooper Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, 2000 Circle of Hope Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah 84112 or a favorite charity of choice.
