Alice Ruth Scott Holbrook 93, passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 peacefully at her home. She was born on September 18, 1920 in Evanston, Wyoming to Delbert Irving Scott and Hannah Hazel Phipps. She was the oldest of 10 children.
Alice married William Holbrook on New Year''s Eve 1938. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple. Bill entered the spirit world in 2002 after a long battle with Parkinson''s disease. How joyful it must be for them to be reunited again! Alice was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and graciously served in various Primary and Relief Society positions. She was a member of Ogden High''s first graduating class. She also served as a hospital volunteer and worked many years as a bookkeeper for the County Assessor''s Office while living in Blackfoot Idaho.
Alice, known as "Nana" to her family, loved to paint, do ceramics, cook, clean, and sing. She belonged to a traveling singing group called Sweet Adelines. Nana loved to spoil her kids and grandkids. She always enjoyed shopping at the mall and going out to eat. She loved spending time in Island Park at the family cabin and fishing on Henry''s lake.
Surviving are her daughter Joanne (Karren) Niederhauser; and son, Delbert William Holbrook. She leaves behind three brothers, Carl "Bud" Scott, Ray Scott, Rick Scott; and two sisters, Beverly Koger, and Carolyn Smith. Alice currently has six grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Family will meet with friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
