Alice Attey Sawaya

Alice A. Sawaya, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.

She was born to John and Sarah Attey in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 2, 1921.

She married Toffie George Sawaya on June 9, 1951 at the Cathedral of the Madeline in Salt Lake City, Utah and they shortly moved to Ogden where they raised their family.

She is survived by her husband Toffie and children, David Sawaya, San Rafael, CA; Richard (Jill) Sawaya, Taylorsville, UT; Celia Anne (Doug) Corey, Perry, UT: and Jeanette Sawaya, Salt Lake City, UT; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She is also survived by her four sisters, Angeline Woodall, San Rafael, CA: Amelia Fors, Polson, MT: Jane Eddy, Salt Lake City, UT; and Joan Hashim, Bakersfield, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Mary Long and Adell Attey, and brothers, Louis Attey, Wilson Attey and Wilford Attey.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 495 North Harrison Boulevard, Ogden, Utah.

A Rosary will be recited from 6 to 6:30 pm with the viewing to follow until 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Boulevard, Ogden, Utah.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the caregivers of Love Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a charitable organization of your choice, or St. James Church.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT.
