Alicia Marie Patrick, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Saturday, August 4, 2018. Alicia was a beloved mother, wife, daughter, aunt and friend, and was taken from us after a very short and painful battle with a very aggressive cancer.
She was born in Ogden, Utah, to Verl and Laura Moon on the last day of 1979. Surrounded by her family is where Alicia preferred to be. The love that she brought to her family was felt through and through by all of us.
Alicia spent her youth and childhood in Layton gaining lifelong friends that helped shape her into the person that she was. She followed the hard working example of her parents when she started working at the age of 15. Alicia spent most of her adult life working in the retail business for Albertson, and Associated Food Stores. Retail work suited her personality very well, as she loved to meet new people, and help them out. She found her love working in a bakery and decorating cakes.
She had an eye for and a great ability to provide happiness through the cakes that she decorated for complete strangers, friends and family. Her nieces and nephews looked forward each year to the cakes that she would decorate for them and they were always a highlight for her to do.
Alicia was a person that had a very kind and loving personality. Her love was very genuine and she gave that love to all. Her family and extended family meant the world to her. She was very involved in the lives of her nieces and nephews and it always made her sad when she wasn’t able to participate in a family activity with them. She was a light that helped to guide all that are in our family, and was always the one that was helping to organize the next family party and extensively researching the dessert that she wanted to bring.
Alicia was married on the 9th of October 2003, to the love of her life Timothy Michael Patrick, in the Mount Timpanogos temple. After struggling with the ability to bear children, Alicia and Tim were blessed with the healthy birth of their daughter McKenna Marie on February 17, 2006. McKenna was the light of Alicia’s world. She was so grateful for the blessing that she received in having a daughter. She never took for granted the blessing that McKenna was in her life. She loved to be able to spoil her and provide the best for her in every aspect of her life. It brought her great joy to be with her daughter, and do the little things with her. She was always very cognizant of the fact that McKenna was getting older and that we would not get this time back with her.
Alicia will be missed by all that knew her. Her personality and love touched so many people and we as a family are so grateful for the prayers of peace and comfort that have been offered in our behalf. The onset and diagnosis of her cancer was very abrupt and shocking to all of us and we have been lifted by the support of friends, family, and complete strangers.
Alicia is survived by a very loving family, Tim and McKenna, her parents Verl and Laura Moon, her siblings, Jason (Jamie), Jeff (Alicia), Jessica (Jerek) Gerdes. She will be sadly missed by both sides of her family and all her nieces and nephews.
