Alicia (Lisa) Joi Martinez-Stapley
April 11, 1966 - August 24, 2016
Our beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, nana, and friend passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on the beautiful morning of August 24, 2016. Lisa was a loving and outgoing woman who always wanted to make others feel safe, comfortable, and happy. She was fiercely loyal, passionate and committed to anything and anyone she came into contact with.
Lisa grew up in Clearfield, Utah with her parents and three brothers who she loved immensely. On February 14, 1987, Valentine’s Day she married the love of her life Neil Shawn Stapley. Together they raised three beautiful children. Those who knew Lisa knew that her husband, children, and granddaughter were the loves of her life. Her family was her life and they all adored her. In 2007 she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and went into remission in 2009 after undergoing a stem cell transplant. She took pride in being a two time cancer survivor, and wanted nothing more than to help find a cure. She would proudly display the Awareness color, light green on everything. Whether it be on her nails, a ribbon pin on her shirt, or stickers on her car. She had been a brave and courageous woman while battling other health conditions over the last few years, and she did so with dignity and love.
After dedicating 12 years as an Academic Secretary at Clearfield Job Corps, she made the decision to stay at home and become a full-time nana to her “special angel” Cruz. She cherished every day she was able to spend with her granddaughter, they would go on their numerous adventures to “Fartmart” (Walmart) and looked forward to enjoying their famous Wednesday “bum day” in their pjs. She had many passions in life especially being her children’s and granddaughter’s #1 supporter in every school, dance, and sporting event, camping with her family, and spending time with her loved ones.
Surviving are her husband Neil, one son Dacoda Shawn Stapley (Nicole Lindsay), two daughters Taylor Ashton Stapley, Harley Rose Stapley, one granddaughter Cruz Isabella Stapley; mother and father Arthur and Rosie Martinez, three brothers Arthur Martinez, Valentino (Candace) Martinez, Dak Martinez, one sister Jessie Martinez and numerous loved ones. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Thanks for all the love, prayers, cards, calls, food and support from you all. We are eternally grateful for your concern, generosity, and thoughtfulness during this difficult time.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Washington Heights Church, 1770 E 6200 S, Ogden, UT.
