On June 13, 2023 we unexpectedly lost our husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Allan was born November 15, 1952, and grew up in Bountiful, Utah. He attended Viewmont High and the University of Utah where he met his wife, Terry Ann Hutzley. He and Terry raised two sons, Josh and Jason, first in Bennion and then Layton. Allan was a diligent worker whose career ranged from driving truck to Gus
Paulos Chevrolet to Wangsgard’s Ace Hardware, where he worked for many years.
Allan loved the outdoors: fly fishing, golfing, camping and target shooting were some of his favorite things to share with us. He enjoyed reading, especially history, following the Utes in basketball and football and the stock market and he had a love for cats. An excellent cook and gardener, he was often tending something on the Traeger or bottling a batch of salsa fresh from the garden. We will miss his humor and his knowledge and experience in a wide array of fields.
Kids have always loved Allan. They bring out his inner child, and then they have fun together. After being a great father to a pair of boys, he absolutely loved being a grandpa to his first grandson Fritz.
The clear waters of the Henry’s Fork and the soft, rolling turf of the Ogden Country Club now have a void, as each of us do. An unexpected passing is disorienting and we feel lost. However, we can orient ourselves, like the compass aligns with the powerful yet unseen magnetic field of the earth, we can look to the love we have for Allan and the love we know he has for us.
