Allen Jay Lawrence
Allen Jay Lawrence, age 56, has returned home where his sweet daughter Lacey Paige Lawrence has been waiting for many years. He passed away in the early morning of June 27, 2015, peacefully at home surrounded by his children after a courageous battle with cancer. Allen was born August 15, 1958 in Ogden, UT to Melvin and Margaret (Sherry) Lawrence. Allen graduated from Davis High School and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at Weber State University. He made his home in Layton, UT. He married Susan (later divorced) with whom he had two children, Justin and Amber Lawrence. He later married Nancy Espinosa (later divorced).
He is preceded in death by his sweet angel Lacey Paige Lawrence. He is survived by his two children, Justin and Amber Lawrence and four grandchildren, Treyson, Toby, Shea-Lynn and Aurora Lawrence, all of whom he adored and loved to play with. He is also survived by his parents, Melvin and Margaret (Sherry) Lawrence, St. George, UT, two sisters, Lisa (Brandon) Hansen, St. George, UT, Linda Lawrence, Mesquite, NV, and one brother Richard Lawrence, SLC, UT.
He loved his job as an Electrical Engineer at HAFB with the 309 th Electronics Maintenance Group. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, skiing, his horses, gardening and everything outdoors. He especially enjoyed the Uinta and Wind River Mountain ranges. He was a very talented musician and the lead guitarist of The Crooked Boyz Band, which took part in many fundraising events and entertainment. Allen was a man of many talents and had a huge heart. He was recently awarded The Certificate of Service from the United States Air Force, along with an honorary US flag that was flown over the Capital in Washington DC.
Thank you to all the friends and family that helped make Allen’s last days memorable. Special thanks to the Layton 2 nd Ward and all the staff at the Layton Utah Cancer Specialists, where he received his treatment.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Allen has impacted so many lives, directly or indirectly, so please come and celebrate Allen’s life with us.
