Allen Mirle Peterson
February 5, 1949 ~ September 1, 2021
Allen Mirle Peterson returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father and his waiting parents and sister on September 1, 2021, surrounded by his family.
Allen was born in Ogden, Utah, to Weston Wilbur and Margaret Hawkes Peterson, the second son of three boys and one girl. He graduated from Ben Lomond High School and attended Weber State for two years before he served in the Army Reserves.
He married his high school sweetheart and eternal companion, Jana Lee Clark, on August 29, 1968. Prior to his passing, they had just celebrated fifty-three years together.
His interests over the years varied, but his love of photography topped the list. He was a great landscape photographer and excelled at portraiture as well. Several of his photographs adorn the walls of their home. Allen loved making friends and singing. He was a member of Saltaire’s Show Chorus for five years. He loved being in the outdoors– camping and backpacking–and raised his family to love it as well.
Allen was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions over the years including Scout Leader, Primary Worker, High Priest Group Leader, Elder’s Quorum President, and Ward Clerk. He and Jana also served in the Ogden Utah Temple.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Joy (Ken) Clegg. He is survived by his wife, Jana Lee; children, Raymond Allen (Alisha), Desiree Anne (Lindsay Carroll), Monica Margurite (Brian) Hess, and Pamela Lee (Ben) Prince; along with eleven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Larry (Karen) Peterson and Randy (Jane) Peterson and many nieces and nephews.
The family thanks Atlas Hospice for their loving, compassionate care during the final days of Allen’s life.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Lewis First Ward Chapel, 435 North Jackson Avenue, Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park.
