Allison Laura Kolmel Petersen

February 23, 1983 - October 16, 2016

Ali passed away surrounded by loved ones on October 16, 2016 in Syracuse, Utah after a 3 year battle with cancer at the age of 33. Ali was born in Layton, Utah and is the second child of Tom and Pat (Overton) Kolmel of Syracuse, Utah.

Ali graduated from Layton High School in 2001. She worked as a medical transcriptionist for Nuance for over 12 years, and really enjoyed typing and learning about the medical field. She loved doing crafts and has recently had taken up an art class and became really good at her paintings. Ali enjoyed watching the Utah Jazz, whether it was on t.v. or at the arena, she showed her support. She also loved going to concerts, namely 311 and The Ataris. She loved selling Paparazzi jewelry and making people happy with their jewelry purchases. She was a huge supporter of the local breast cancer support group and make lifelong friends while she attended.

Ali married Kyle Petersen on November 11, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada and welcomed their daughter Kamdyn into their family in 2009.

Preceding her in death were her Aunt Nancy Sautkulis, her Grandpa Gus Kolmel, her Grandma Margaret Overton, and her Grandpa Roger Overton and her Mother-in-Law Alana Petersen.

She is survived by her husband Kyle Petersen and daughter Kamdyn Petersen of Clinton, Utah, her parents Tom and Pat Kolmel of Syracuse, Utah, her brother Jeff Kolmel (Angelena) and their four children of Syracuse, Utah, her Grandma Cathy Kolmel of West Babylon, NY, her Father-in-Law Kyle Petersen of Layton Utah, her Brother-in-Law Kade (Kiersten) Petersen of Layton, Utah and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Saturday from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.

We would like to thank Lindquist Mortuary for their services and also Hearts for Hospice for the care they gave Ali when she came home.
