Alma Rae Francis Garfield
July 9, 1930 ~ July 15, 2015

Alma Rae Francis Garfield, 85, chose to live her life following the inspired counsel she had received in her Patriarchal Blessing, "Be happy". Her life was not void of trials or challenges, but she cheerfully embraced each of life's adventures and used them as stepping stones and bridges leading her to a fullness of joy, found only through a "life lived in the service of others". She passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015.

Alma Rae was born on July 9, 1930 in Buhl, Idaho. She was the 7th and youngest child of William Joseph and Priscilla Elizabeth Montgomery Francis. Her soul was naturally inclined toward "the things of God", and her testimony of Christ provided the scaffolding which supported and strengthened every other aspect of her life.

She earned her Nursing Degree (RN) from BYU.  Following her graduation, she married Daryle Leslie Garfield on June 12, 1953, in the Logan LDS Temple. He passed away shortly before their 58th Anniversary.

Her family was her greatest treasure and she often exclaimed, "All I ever wanted to be was a mom!" She magnified this noble calling in every way possible. Her posterity honors and reveres her example as "GG", the perfect mom, grandma, great-grandma, friend, and mentor.

Her hands were never idle and she emulated Peter's example found in Acts 3:6, "...such as I have, give I thee..."  Hundreds of quilts, hats, scarves and toys, and a constant flow of bottled produce and homemade treats found their way into the hands and hearts of those in need. Her motto was "Do it Now". The very essence of her being can be summed up in three words... Love and Serve.

She loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Temple, traveling the world, and organizing a party for any occasion. She was truly a remarkable woman!

Alma is survived by her children, Gregory Lynn (Cindy) Garfield, Vicki G. (Robert) Harbertson, Janette G. (Ryan) Shaw, Shauna G. (Glen) Hancock, Ryan Leslie (Jodi) Garfield, Michele G. (Wayne) Higgs; 28 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and counting. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden East Stake Center, 900 East 2850 North.  Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
