Alma Russell Neilson

Alma Russell Neilson, 93, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. He was born on June 23, 1924, the son of Olaf and Edna Coley Neilson. Russell was born and raised in Richmond, Utah. He spent his married life in the Ogden area.

He served our country in the Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946. Retired from Hill Air Force Base.

After returning from the war he married his sweetheart, Gloria Olsen, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on October 9, 1946.

Russell was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Russell is survived by his loving wife, Gloria of Washington Terrace; sons, Barry (Julie) of  Roy; and Todd (Karen) of Ogden; daughters, Sandra (Darrel) Bingham of West Point, Marsha (Parley) Tingey of Riverdale; and  Angie (George) Platco of Johnstown, PA; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, two sons and four grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
