Almeda Holbrook Clayton

Almeda Holbrook Clayton returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father in her sleep at the home of her daughter on October 9, 2009. She was born on February 18, 1922 in Milford, Utah the only daughter of David Merrill and Ella Hales Edwards. She grew up in Milford and graduated from Milford High School. She married Don C. Holbrook in June 1941, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. After living in Milford for the next 14 years, she moved to Bountiful, Utah where she lived and raised her family for more than 50 years. She was a member of the LDS church and was very active in the primary of the Val Verda 1st Ward. After retirement they spent their winters in Yuma AZ. Don preceded her in death in July of 1991. She later met and married Vaughn Clayton and together they served an LDS mission to Florida and then California. She loved to play golf and was a member of the Rose Park Women''s Golf Association for many years. She was also a past president of the Union Pacific Oldtimers Auxiliary. She was an avid traveler and saw China, Australia, Europe and the Holy Land. She was a great mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter Connie (Rodger) Calder, two sons David (Valarie) Holbrook and D. Shane (Shauna) Holbrook. She has 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both husbands and her daughter Teri and son-in-law Valmer Ness.

Funeral Services will be held 11 am Wednesday October14, 2009 at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. where friends may call Tuesday October 13 from 6-8 pm and Wednesday 9:45-10:45 am prior to the services. Interment Wasatch Lawn 3401 S. Highland Dr. Salt Lake City.
