Alois “Al” Michael Skutnick
ROY – Alois Michael Skutnick, 86, died Monday, February 22, 2010 at McKay-Dee Hospital.
Al was born in Salamanca, New York on July 7, 1923 to Michael F. and Sophie Palina Skutnick.
He served with the 291st Army Engineers during World War II and was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge.
Al attended St. Bonaventura, Oklahoma A & M, and graduated from the University of Michigan.
In June of 1955, he married Helen Earlene Anderson in Compton, California. They moved to Utah in January of 1957 to work for The Marquardt Corporation. When Marquardt moved back to California he went to work for Thiokol, retiring in 1990.
Al enjoyed hunting and fishing and went to Alaska nine years in a row to fish for Salmon. He also enjoyed caring for his German shepherd dogs, Molly and K.C.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Earlene, Roy; sister, Isabelle Sander, San Marcos, CA; and a brother, Ed Skutnik, Los Angeles, CA.
Al was preceded in death by his son, Michael Carl Skutnick; his parents; and sisters, Melvina Nosal, Lee Barsante, Wanda Tibbetts, and Adele Forsburg, who died Feb. 24, 2010.
Cremation under the direction of Lindquist’s Crematory.
