Alta P. Kennedy
WASHINGTON TERRACE – Alta Putnam Kennedy 97, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, August 22, 2008.
She was born April 3, 1911 in Woodruff, Utah to Ezra Savannah and Betsy Jane Longhurst Putnam. She grew up in Woodruff, Utah and graduated from South Rich High School.
On September 2, 1931, Alta married Alonzo Kennedy. They began their family in Randolph and later moved to the Ogden area where she worked as a cook for Weber County School District. However, raising her five children was the highlight of her life.
Alta was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Her interests included reading, and writing in her daily journal. Alta never forgot family members and friends birthdays. A dream came true when she was 77 years young – she had the chance to visit the British Isles, the country of her ancestry.
Surviving are two sons, two daughters, and a daughter-in-law, Gordon (ShirLene) of Salt Lake City; Kent (Jodi) of Roy; Verla Fay Neves, and Karen (Bob) Quintana, both of Ogden; Julie of Washington Terrace; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Also surviving are her brother, Keith Putnam and her sister, Virginia Snowball.
Preceding Alta in death were her parents, husband, son Blair, one brother, Eldon, and two sisters, Bessie and Delores.
The family is especially grateful for the loving kindness and care given to Alta by Kristy and Kathy.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
