Alton Homer Larkins
"Together Again"
OGDEN a" Alton Homer Larkins, 93, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011 with his family by his side. He was born November 1, 1917 in Picher, Oklahoma to Homer Morris and Carrie Bertha Evans Larkins.
He married the love of his life, Margaret Ramage on December 22, 1945 in Loa, Utah. They were later sealed together for Time and All Eternity in the Logan LDS Temple on August 2, 1965.
Alton was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. Alton and Margaret were considered the best and most inventive grandparents around, coming up with "holidays" such as grandkids day and taffy pulling day. These events were held at least yearly and were anxiously anticipated by each grandchild and envied by all of their friends until Margaret''s passing in 2006.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Alton and Margaret served four full-time missions with a goal on the horizon always to serve "one more". He served as High Councilor in the stake.
Alton is survived by his son A. Guy Larkins, Danielsville, Georgia; daughters, Orelene L. Higgs, Riverdale; Edna "Megan" Hamblin, Wisconsin; 18 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren, and 27 great-great-grandchildren, brother Ray Larkins, and Sister Mary Mahler.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret, one grandson Curtis Higgs, two granddaughters, June Cannon and Carolyn Killpack, and sisters, Evelyn and Virginia.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 28, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
