Alvena Darlene Richardson, 86, a longtime Ogden resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at her home in Farr West of natural causes and has now joined her husband in her Heavenly Home. Darlene was the fifth of seven children born to John George and Leona Sophia Fries Bortz. She came into this world on January 19, 1936 in Burley, Idaho. Darlene attended schools in Declo, Idaho graduating from Declo High School Class of 1954 and went on to study business in Nampa, Idaho. She worked in the Culinary Industry most of her life!

Darlene met the love of her life Carl Eugene Richardson in the Pentecostal Church and they were married on December 23, 1956. They enjoyed making lots of music together for 57 years and raising their four children. She was an amazing grandma to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her family they were her Life!

She always loved to be dressed up! Loved getting her hair done and of course always had lipstick on! She had a heart of gold. Not only was she a mom to her kids, but to everyone.

Also an avid baker, she loved cooking and in her younger years also camping. Darlene and Carl loved to travel together, and they loved to sing. Her personality was larger than life!  She will be remembered for her sense of humor, somewhat lacking a filter, her yummy baking, her peanut brittle, singing Birthday Songs for everyone and taking in anyone who needed help! Her compassion for others were undeniable. Mom loved the Lord, paid her tithing faithfully and a true servant of God.

Darlene is survived by her children, Lonnie (Melanie) Richardson, Lenore, ID; Larry E. Richardson, Farr West, UT; Peggy (Paul) VanNoy, Burley, ID; and Penny (Yancy) Scott, West Haven; 26 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren with one on the way; siblings, Gale Bortz, Declo, ID and Shirley Meyer, Rupert, ID. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; granddaughter, Deveree Richardson; grandson, Cory Quintana; grandsons-in-law, Buck Workman and Martin Quintana and brothers, Elmer, Ray, and Gene; and sister, Ellen Kelly.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Westwood Village Clubhouse, 1111 North 2000 West, Farr West, UT 84404. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
