Heaven will shine a little brighter, now that our radiant Alyssa Nicole has returned. Born May 23, 1991, in Provo, Utah, to joyful new parents Eric Charles Isom and Allyson Bowman Isom, Alyssa loved life and laughter. On Sept. 23, 2012, she passed from the challenges of a weakened body to the next life, certain to make a loud, cheerful entrance and greeted by loved ones, including her grandmother, Patricia Lovejoy Isom and grandfathers, John Waldon Isom and Terry Lorenzo Bowman. Though we know binding covenants make her eternally ours, she will be tremendously missed by her parents; younger siblings Kenna Leigh, Jace Eric and Tate Eric Isom; and cherished grandmother Louise Smith Bowman.

Despite the unrelenting physical and emotional trials of juvenile diabetes, Addison''s disease and hypothyroidism, Alyssa remained fervent in her faith, committed to becoming all Heavenly Father intended. She excelled in academics as a straight A student at Davis High School; enjoyed playing high school volleyball and basketball; craved Doritos and made the best fettuccine alfredo with bread sticks; loved literature and movies, "Perry Mason" and "I Love Lucy;" snuggled every baby she encountered; and deeply yearned to see the artistic works of the masters abroad. Her art history major and business management minor at Brigham Young University were preparing her for a teaching career, as she hoped to inspire youth to create and celebrate beauty.

We will receive family and friends Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, and on Thursday, Sept. 27, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Flint Street Chapel, 200 N. 1275 W. (Flint St.), Kaysville. Funeral services are Sept. 27 at 3:00 p.m. in the Flint St. Chapel, with interment immediately following at the Kaysville cemetery.

The family extends our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Gitana Staskus, Dr. Dana Clarke, Dr. Michael Johnson, and the staff at the University of Utah Diabetes Center, as well as the many emergency responders and emergency room personnel who have so kindly cared for Alyssa. We have been blessed countless times by angels on both sides of the veil. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Our hearts yearn for the brilliant day, Alyssa, when we are reunited with a loving embrace and again bask in your light.
