Amelia Fraga Diarte

Amelia “Molly” Fraga Diarte, our beautiful mom has left us to be reunited with the love of her life. She was born in Cache Junction, Utah to Jesus Luis Fraga and Eulalia Sanchez Fraga on September 30, 1921. Mom met Harry Singh Diarte on July 24, 1937 on Historic 25th Street, during the 24th of July Celebration. They were married on October 22, 1939. Their marriage was validated on October 23, 1939 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ogden Utah. They were married 69 years. Harry passed on January 13, 2008. Living without him has been her biggest challenge. Mom devoted her life to our dad and family. She was a loving, caring person to all; strong, stubborn and a true survivor. She lived through the Great Depression and appreciated her 91 years of life. She loved nature, birds, camping, cooking, embroidery, crocheting and being with her family. Helping others in her special way was her greatest trait. She was the happiest when working outdoors in her garden, growing tomatoes, peppers, fruit, anything she could share with family and friends. She loved the color red and red carnations. Mom was a hard worker since her youth and never complained. Mom loved to serve. She was a giver and constantly strived to help others when she could. She was pulled from her early ages at school to work in the fields to harvest crops. She loved her education and the time spent in the classroom. She was especially proud of her “Superior Performance Award” given to her while employed by Hill Air Force Base. She has many stories of working on the aircraft during the war when the young men of the community were off fighting for our country. Mom was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and enjoyed working in the Rectory for 15 years, serving the Church and the Priests. She helped in teaching the youth at CCD and was awarded “Woman of the Year” in 1990. She loved music and her beautiful voice was part of the Church Choir. She is survived by her sons: Charles Singh Diarte (Anita), David Harry Diarte (Mary), Robert Michael Diarte (Mary Hellen), Natalie Diarte Hunter (Kit), 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren. Her loving dog Tiny, who will be lost without her, also survives mom. She was preceded in death by one son and two daughters, Virginia Diarte and Rose Diarte Smith (Patrick– deceased), and one grandson, Robert Diarte II. She is the eldest of 16 siblings: Lewis Fraga– deceased (Julia), Sofia Candia (Demetrio), Henry Fraga (Julia), Dora Meza– deceased, Edward Fraga (Carmen), Senorina Fernandez (Manuel– deceased), Linda Hernandez, Arnold Fraga– deceased (Annie), Arthur Fraga (Linda), Martina Fraga– deceased, Frank Fraga (Ernestina), two brothers and two sisters. Mom is survived by her brother-in-law, Raymond Diarte (Flora), Jimmie Singh Diarte– deceased (Mary) and their families. Our love and special thanks to grandchildren Marnie Smith Whiteaker, Brenda, Shelbie, Jake, Philip and Eddie Shaw. The Shaw family has been the primary care givers for mom since May of this year. They have given her unconditional love and support and the opportunity to be in her home. We are blessed with many family members who loved mom and supported her over the years with daily calls to brighten her day. Special thanks to her sister Seno, who stayed with her each and every Sunday for over three years after dad passed. Thank you to “Essential Care” and Socorro for her loving care. Much gratitude to the staff at “Hospice for Utah”; Andrea, Tammy, Heather, Dr. Holland, you are angels. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, November 2nd at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4050 South 3900 West, West Haven. Family will meet with friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., with Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, South Ogden.
