Amos R. Garcia RIVERDALE – Amos R. Garcia, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2007 surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born May 6, 1932 in El Prado, New Mexico, a son of Onesimo Requildo and Sarah Vargas Garcia. On February 25, 1952, Amos married Billy Lee Ortega in Green River, Wyoming. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad with 45 years of service as a journeyman sheet metal worker. Amos loved gardening and spending time with his family. He especially loved fishing with his brother-in-law Aron. He was a member of the Union Pacific Railroad Junior Old Timers. Many times Amos thought he was the richest man alive because he was appreciated and loved by so many of his family, friends and neighbors. Anyone who knew Amos knows he was always the first to lend a helping hand. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Billy Lee Garcia, Riverdale; children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Tina (Gary) Baker, Tracy, CA; Eloy (Betty) Garcia, Roy; Cynthia (Malcolm) Reeves, Tooele, UT; Shawn (Joe) Cox, Branson, MO; Jason (Heather) Garcia, Jacksonville, AR; Candice Ford, Sarah Garcia, Matthew Cox, Shanna Garcia, Michael Cox, Trevor Reeves, Margaret Cox, Michael Cox, Jr., and Kyle Garcia serving an LDS Mission in Arcadia, CA. Also surviving are his brother, Gus (Jane) Garcia, sister, Lucy (Paul) Casias, sister-in-law, Oddie Garcia and several nieces and nephews. Amos was preceded in death by his parents, O.R. and Sarah Garcia, brother, Eddie Garcia and his uncle Amarante Garcia. Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2740 Pennsylvania Ave. Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. where Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Our family would like to express thanks and gratitude to the nurses and doctors at LDS Hospital who treated Amos with dignity and kindness.
