LAYTON – Amy Kawamura Miyawaki, 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Country Care Assisted Living in Farmington, Utah, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Amy was born on June 23, 1926 in Ucon, Idaho to Kotaro and Toku Tsuboi Kawamura.  She graduated from Pocatello High School in 1943.

Amy married Hideo Miyawaki on December 7, 1957 in Ogden, Utah.  Amy was a loving wife and mother. She loved to sew matching outfits for her daughters, nieces, and their dolls.  Amy was employed at Layton Flower Shop and later retired from Steed Electric.

Despite Amy’s long battle with Alzheimer’s she always had a friendly smile to greet friends and family. Her daughter’s Tracy and Jeri were her primary caregivers until she moved into Country Care Assisted Living in December 2013.

Amy is survived by her daughters, Tracy (Joe) Amano, Layton and Jerilyn Oda, Syracuse; grandchildren, Derek Amano, Alyssa Amano, Kaden Amano, Kailie Oda, and Cameron Oda; brother-in-law, Harry Watanabe, Pocatello, ID; sisters-in-law, Lily Kawamura, Pocatello, ID; Yo Kawamura, Palo Alto, CA; and Shirley Kawamura, Pocatello, ID; cousins, Eiichi (Ruth) Kawamura, Denver, CO and Will Kawamura, Pocatello, ID; sisters-in-law, Yasuko Shiba, Clearfield; Sachi (Richard) Kawabata, Bountiful, Toshiko Miyawaki, Clearfield; and Masako (Larry) Hardwick, Las Vegas, NV; brother-in-law, Tom (Mitzi) Miyawaki, Culver City, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hideo Miyawaki; her parents, Toku and Kotaro Kawamura; sisters, Yoneko Watanabe and Sachi (Jean) Kawamura; brothers, Akira (Ike) Kawamura, Yukio (Yuk) Kawamura, and Shin Kawamura; mother-in-law, Matsuyo Miyawaki; brothers-in-law, Kay Shiba, Ken Miyawaki, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Yosh and Ayako Ugaki.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to the nurses and aides at Sybii Home Health and Hospice and Country Care Assisted Living for the patience and love they showed towards their mom.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
