Amy Jean Sanders
Our precious mother, Amy Jean Wood Dodart Sanders, passed away on June 29, 2015. She was born on July 24, 1923 in Layton, Utah to Clifford and Gertrude Willey Wood.
The oldest of seven children, she married Oliver Ulysses Dodart Jr., on June 15, 1944, (deceased on October 1, 1946). She subsequently married Willie (Bill) Sanders (divorced).
Jean graduated from Davis High School and attended Weber State College. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in many church callings. Jean had a very strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and exemplified his teachings.
In her younger years, Jean enjoyed bowling, golf, tennis, dancing, horseback riding and loved to take her sons fishing.
Jean was a member of the USO during WWII and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol.
She had many talents, including to name, just a few, refurbishing furniture with a beautiful antique look, creating rock gardens, had a way with words – Jean should have been a writer and the same goes with her art talent. Mom could do it all. Jean had a love for music and had an ear for it. She always commented “music is good for the soul.” She was a loving and kind mother, who inspired her children to always do good and be honest with their fellow man. Mom instilled in us the importance of family; her family was the center of her life. We children always felt we were the most important thing in her life.
Jean is survived by her children, Oliver David Dodart (Jacqueline), Billie Jean Merrill, Gregory Philip Sanders (Lori) and Rodney Brent Sanders (Vicki), plus 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and her brother Lynn Wood, Calvin Wood, and Brent Wood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Clifford Junior Wood, her sisters, Maudell Stamey, Mary Van Wagoner and Vonda Yarbrough.
