WEST POINT a€" Andrew C. Buffenbarger, 83, passed away peacefully at his home, Monday morning, July 7, 2008 of causes incident to Alzheimer''s.

Andrew (Buff) was born December 26, 1924 to Franklin and Alma Starr Buffenbarger in Eaton, IN.

He served in WWII in the So. Pacific Theater then later joined the Air Force, retiring after 21 years of service, then retired after 21 years of civil service at Hill AFB.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley, four daughters, Bonnie (Leon) Voorhies, Randie Ashelly, Donale (Leo) Richan, and Kalyn (Ric) Womble. Also surviving are seven grandsons and 11 great-grandchildren, and four sisters.

Preceded in death by both parents, two sons, Ralph and Johnny, and one grandson, Johnny, and several siblings.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 3 p.m. at Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. As a family we wish to thank the Community Nursing Services for their care, help, and compassion through the difficult last few months. Also a special thanks to Jeramy and Leesa for their help during the last week.
