Andrew Henderson Eldredge

Andrew Henderson Eldredge, age 82, died Sunday, May 25, 2008 of Leukemia.

Dad left behind his wife of 15 years Joyce Dalton Eldredge of Kaysville, daughter Tana (Nyle) Longhurst, son Jay (Shanna) Eldredge both of Layton, step-daughter Annette (Marc) Mayer of Fort Collins, Colorado, 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He started life September 2, 1925 on a farm near Sterling, Idaho where he learned to work, play and pray. He left home at 17 to fight in Europe during WWII. He returned to Europe a few years later with the first group of LDS missionaries called to Germany after the war. Returning home he worked several jobs ending up with the Postal Service in Oakland, California, it was there he met Mom.

He married Ora Fay Iverson on January 18, 1960 in the Logan Temple. They made their home in Brigham City for 30 years where they worked, served in their church and raised their kids. Mom died April 20, 1990. He met Grandma Joyce a couple years later while serving in the Ogden Temple. They were married May 25, 1993.

Dad continued to travel, serve missions, do name extraction and tease almost to the day he died. In summary, Dad loved his country, he loved God and he loved his family.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Brigham City Cemetery.
