OGDEN a€" Andrew Checketts Scothern, 88, died Monday, May 10, 2010 at his home in Ogden.

He was born May 3, 1922 in Tremonton, Utah, the youngest of five sons of Joseph and Hanna Eliza Checketts Scothern. He graduated from Bear River High School and attended Weber College and Utah State University.

Andrew married Elaine Bowcutt. She preceded him in death. On September 4, 1988, he married Janet Christiansen in Elko, Nevada.

Andy earned his wings to fly and serve his country as a Naval Pilot in the Pacific during World War II on May 10, 1943. On this same day 67 years later, he once again breaks the bonds of this earth to take wing and fly with angels.

He was the owner and operator of Crown Body Shop since 1957.

Andrew''s passions included his family, gardening, repairing anything mechanical, traveling, re-living history, the Utah Jazz and golfing with friends. He spent most of the past winters in Yuma, Arizona. He enjoyed all of nature and all that it offered and his family along with all those he had cared for and about throughout his life. His wife Janet, his daughters, sons and their families will truly miss him.

Surviving are his wife, Janet C. Scothern, Ogden; five sons, Max, Ron, and Troy Scothern, Scott Dickemore, and Randy Jensen; five daughters, Gae (Dan) McCormack, Beverly (Dale) Powell, Andrea (Jesse) Anderson, Shelley (Scott) Hancock, Jill (Frank) Lopez; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine Bowcutt Scothern.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

Family will meet friends at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
