Angela Carling
LAYTON - Angela Silotti Carling, age 51, passed away suddenly very early in the morning of January 2, 2014. Angie was a very loving person and will be missed by many. She was born on October 21, 1962 (opening day of the deer hunt) in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jack and Joyce Silotti. She was raised in Kaysville and graduated from Davis High School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Weber State University in Child Development where she graduated the top of her class.
She met her sweetheart, Brent Ray Carling, during her college years, got engaged on April Fool’s Day (Brent’s birthday) and later married him for time and all eternity on June 14, 1985 (Flag Day) in the Salt Lake Temple. Angie and Brent are raising their family of four children and one dog in West Layton.
Angie is a kind and compassionate person, who enjoyed being in the service of family, friends and neighbors. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she has served in many capacities in the Primary, Relief Society, Young Women, and the Sunday School. Angie has been an educator for Davis School District for the past 12 years, working with resource and special needs students at Layton Elementary. She spent many years as a personal tutor to help students progress academically.
Her greatest honor and privilege is being a wife and mother. She loves her family very much, and was the best cheerleader any of them could ask for. She enjoyed supporting her family in all their endeavors, whether marathons, performances, soccer games, or any other activity they set out to accomplish. She liked to spend her time exercising, going on walks and bike rides with Brent and she is now going on walks with her dad, who passed away four days previous to her. She would take time out of her day to support any member of her family, whether children, her siblings, or nieces and nephews. She will forever be the “favorite aunt”.
Angie has a great capacity to love, and everyone that knew her could feel her love for them. She could talk to anybody, and everybody could talk to her. Many people turned to Angie on a regular basis to visit with her, knowing that she would listen with love. She was very good at making people comfortable around her, she had a great sense of humor and they couldn’t help but smile after spending time with her.
Angie is survived by her husband, Brent, and their four children: Brad, Alysha, Cory, and ShayLynn. She is also survived by her mother, Joyce Silotti, and her three awesome sisters; Valerie (Robert) Cutler, Tina (Jeffrey) Felt, Michelle (David) Hatch, and one amazing brother, Wesley (Janet) Silotti. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Silotti, and her brother-in-law, Paul Carling.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Layton Creekside Stake Center, 1480 West Phillips, Kaysville, UT. Friends may visit family Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road, Layton and on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
