Angela “Angie” Higareda

May 31, 1935 ~ February 5, 2017

Angela “Mom” Higareda, 81, beloved Mother and grandmother returned home Feb. 5th 2017.  Born to Ramejo and Cleotilde (Olgine) Gonzales in Grand Junction Colorado she was preceded in death by her sister Sally Martinez, ex-husband Ralph Delgado and her son Ralph “Resty” Delgado.  She lived in a Tuberculosis hospital in Grand Junction Colorado from the ages of 5-13.  She also lived in Idaho, New York and Utah.

Our little Mama Angie stood 4 foot 9 inches and was a mother to 9 natural born children and countless others she embraced into our family.   In our house there were no friends everyone was family.  She loved music, family, food, drink and a good time.  Our little Mama was the Matriarch of our family and it will not be the same without her.

She taught us so many lessons she taught us to laugh through the pain.  Living with one lung and intermittent health issues she found the humor in all situations and her laughter was contagious.  She was known for teasing everyone and joking with anyone. Our little Mom taught us to be feisty (sometimes too feisty) and stand up for ourselves.  This made for a very loud house.  She always said “dynamite comes in small packages” and dynamite she was.

Our little Mama was always in the kitchen and it was always full of life, love food and too many people, she was constantly ordering everyone out.  She was an amazing cook she and it was a privilege to get the first warm tortilla fresh from the stove. We were always fighting over the warm tortillas and always in trouble for sneaking them before dinner.  She taught us about love and how to love others through food.  Everyone was welcome at our dinner table.

Our little Mama taught us generosity.  She always shared whatever she had even though she had very little.  Our home was open to anyone needing a place to stay or sleep for the night.

Our Mom was crazy and outspoken, she could be mean but she loved others so deeply that you couldn’t help but to love her.

Our Mother and Grandmother touched many lives.  She is survived by 8 children Sally Aponte, Ana Delgado (Michael Davis), Richard (Janice) Delgado, Lisa Delgado, Del Payan (Tom Farnes), Eddie (Susie) Delgado, Shawn Delgado, Kimberly Delgado.  She is survived by many grand-children, and great grand-children and friends who became family.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 10th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24th St., Ogden.  Friends may visit Thursday, February 9th from 6 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden.
