“Together Again”

Angelo Santarelli, 94, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017, from causes incident to age.  He will always be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Angelo was born on February 23, 1923, in Tooele, to Pasquale Santarelli and Raffaela DeMichele. As his family moved from Tooele they settled in Ogden. He was a graduate of Ogden High School, he worked at Hill Air Force Base and Defense Depot Ogden. Upon completing service in the U. S. Navy during World War II, he worked for his father, who owned the Utah Tavern on Historic 25th Street.  In 1945, he began working for the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring after 40 years of service in 1985. Angelo married his neighborhood sweetheart Jean Busico on April 27, 1946, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ogden. His sweetheart Jean passed away on April 23, 2017.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Holy Family Catholic Church.

His interests through the years were bowling, fishing, gardening, golfing, snow skiing, traveling, and especially spending time with family and friends. He always enjoyed a winning game of pool! With life’s challenges, they moved to Mountain Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care relaxing and enjoying their life together. Dad had fun serenading the residents and caregivers with his favorite songs! Dad never met a stranger he didn’t like.  He would always greet them with the phrase, “How you doing? You old goat! I’m Angelo Pasquale Giovanni Santarelli!”

Angelo is survived by his daughters, Janice (Lee) Montgomery, Roy; and Diane (Doug) Hadley, Ogden; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Angelina Jensen, Boise ID; and Teresa Kartchner, Plain City; and many loving nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Pasquale and Raffaela; his wife, Jean; his brother, Joseph Santarelli; his sisters, Adelina Paoli, Ernestine Nielsen, and Mary Feasel; and his granddaughter, Breann Angela Hadley.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 East 5550 South, South Ogden.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 5 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living and Memory care for all their devoted care, love, and friendship for our Father and Envision Home Health and Hospice Care for their dedicated care of our Dad, especially Teasha, Theresa, and Susan. A sincere appreciation to Father Charles Cummins for his many blessings, prayers, and genuine spirit he always presented to our parents and family. Our heartfelt thank you to the Eucharistic Ministers from Holy Family Catholic Church for their love and friendship to our parents.

Salute to you Dad and Mom for being the Best Parents Ever! We will always and forever love you…
