Anita Grace Betz, 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 24, 2012 in Ogden, Utah. She was born October 12, 1915 in Wallula, KS, the oldest of eight children born to William Carl and Grace Winn Stuckey Wiehe. She grew up in Wallula, where she milked cows and herded kids while helping on the family farm.

After graduating from Lansing High School in 1932, she attended Chillicothe Business College in Missouri. She attended the Wallula Christian Church for many years. Anita worked for a paint company in Kansas City before working for the CCC and the Department of Defense. During WWII, she worked in Germany for General Cannon as his private secretary. Her career spanned various commands of the United States Air Force, as Administrative Assistant and as Secretary to the Commanding Generals of the Air Training Command and Tactical Air Command, in the United States, and with the United States Air Forces in Europe, in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Anita met Lt. Col Frederick J. Betz and they were married in Okinawa in 1956. The couple settled in Ogden, Utah and she continued working as a secretary for 24 years at Hill Air Force Base, retiring in 1979.

Fred passed away from cancer in 1969 and Anita remained in Ogden, eventually retiring and enjoying golf and playing the accordion and piano. Anita was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ogden. She also belonged to Bethlehem Shrine #1, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Queen Esther Chapter #4, Order of the Eastern Star, Iris Court #47, Ladies'' Oriental Shrine of NA, Lybia Temple #32, Daughters of the Nile, and Midvale Assembly #247, Social Order of the Beauceant where she played the piano in their meetings for many years.

Although she had no children of her own she will be deeply missed by her dear friends and nearest relatives. She is survived by her brother, Sherman (Mary Ann) Wiehe, Kansas City, KS; sister-in-law, Catherine A. Wiehe, Leavenworth, KS and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
