Anita Bourne Jones

June 23, 1931 ~ December 15, 2016

Anita Bourne Jones, 85, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016 at her home. She fought a valiant battle after suffering a stroke in May of this year, with her beloved husband at her side to give her support and constant care.

Anita had unwavering faith in our Savior Jesus Christ, and it showed in her love and kindness towards others. She loved her family, and was an amazing example of faith and love.

She was born June 23, 1931 in Riverside, Utah to Horace Wesley and Nola Mae Fowers Bourne. During her life, she lived in Riverside, Ogden, South Ogden and Sunset. She graduated from Weber High School and attended Weber State College, where she received her Associate of Science degree.

On November 4, 1955, Anita married Sylvester Jones in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served as a Primary teacher for 40 years and also served two Stake missions.

She enjoyed bird watching, crafts and gardening.

Anita is survived by her husband, Sylvester; their children, Jay (Heidi) Jones, Kaysville; Mike Jones, Pine Dale, WY; David (Allison) Jones, Clinton; Alan (Stacy) Jones, Reno, NV; Sherrie Jones, Sunset; Jan Jones Helm. Sunset; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, sister, Marilyn (Farrell) Cook, Clinton; brother-in-law, Jay Smith, Roy. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two siblings, Grant Bourne and Bonnie Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Sunset 2nd Ward Chapel, 220 West 975 North. The family will meet with friends Tuesday, December 20th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
