Anita Louise Nope
September 15, 1958- October 4, 2017
Anita Louise Whitaker Nope (59) passed away peacefully at her home October 4, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. Though a resident of Clearfield for the last 17 years, Anita was born in Eunice, Louisiana on September 15, 1958 to her father Charles David Whitaker, Sr a native of Memphis, TN and mother, Deoradine Marie Ardoin a native of Basile, LA. Some of her fondest childhood memories were spent with her MaMaw and PaPaw in Basile on their little sharecroppers' farm and later when they literally moved house and all to the city, they would give Anita a dime and she'd head off to the brand-new tiny grocery store with the old-fashioned candy counter and choose her favorite treats.
Anita had a beauty about her that wasn't surface only. As a teenager, she sought for good and noble pursuits, thus leading her to learn of and become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Later Anita met and married the love of her life, Mark Stephen Nope a native of Lake Charles, LA in the Salt Lake Temple on June 9, 1978. They settled in Westlake, LA where Anita was blessed to become the mother of three beautiful daughters and a handsome son. Motherhood was her greatest joy and Anita chose to be a stay-at-home-mom for most of their childhood, though she would work part-time for the family business, Southwest Signs and later at White Elegance. She delighted in being the chief chauffeur and cheerleader for countless dance recitals and ball games and practices.
Anita was not only a loving granddaughter, daughter, sister, wife, mother, nana, aunt and friend but she was devout in her service to her Lord and Savior throughout her life. She valiantly served in many church callings and compassionately performed acts of selfless love to family, friends and others. Throughout her battle with cancer, her determination, bravery, sweetness and calm brought peace and solace not only to those who loved and cherished her but also to those who were blessed to render her service and care.
Anita was preceded in death by both her father and brother, Charles David Whitaker, Sr. and Jr., respectively. She is survived by her mother 'Dean' Fruge (Lake Charles, LA) as well as her beloved eternal companion Mark S. Nope (Clearfield, UT) and her pride and joy children and grandchildren, namely: daughter Aja (Daniel) Rhoton (Caldwell, ID) and their children Caleb, Jaedyn, Caitlyn, Joslyn and Cade; daughter Jenna (Glenn) Yearsley (Idaho Falls, ID) and their children Baylee and Sadie; daughter Aubrey (Terry) Olson (Idaho Falls ID) and their children Blake, Ashlyn and Damon, and son Richard Mark Nope (Provo, UT). Anita is also survived by her brother James Allen Whitaker (Layton, UT), sister Janell (Robert) Barbee (Lake Charles, LA) mother-in-law Elizabeth Nope (Van, TX) brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and numerous nephews and nieces.
