Ann Oline Stoddard Phipps
December 13, 1929 ~ December 19, 2018
Ann Oline Stoddard Phipps passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 19, 2018 at her home. She was born in Ogden, Utah to Helen Froerer Stoddard and Earl Stoddard on December 13, 1929. She grew up in Hooper and Huntsville where she enjoyed being outdoors and by the water.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
On July 5, 1947, she married the most handsome guy around, Robert George Phipps of Ogden. Together they raised four children, Stephen (Heidi) Phipps of Mesa, AZ; Alan Phipps of Perry, UT; Kathleen Ochsenbein (Michael Andersen) of Makaha, HI; and Jenifer Hawks of Layton, UT.
She is also survived by her brothers, Lynn (Lorraine) Stoddard of Farmington, UT and Ray Stoddard of Roy, Utah,10 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, brother, Darrell Stoddard; two great-grandchildren, Jasmine Lanphear and Scotty Ryker Hawks; and a son-in-law, Read Ochsenbein.
Ann enjoyed traveling to tropical destinations, the outdoors, fishing and boating, especially on Bear Lake. Her greatest joy in life, however, was her family. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren and always made them feel like they were cherished and loved. In return, everyone loved and adored “Grandma Potato Chip” as her grandkids fondly called her. She had a special place in her heart for babies and nothing lifted her spirits like a visit from the little ones.
As per Ann’s request, there will be no viewing or funeral. Graveside services will be held on December 29, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Hooper Cemetery, 5340 S. 6300 W, Hooper, UT, for those wishing to attend. Services entrusted to Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Intermountain Hospice for their help and care and to Diane Bordinaro and Dan Bennett, old family friends, for their weekly visits to offer cheer and comfort over the years.
Dearest Mom and grandma – you are now with the angels, but you were always one to us. You consistently offered unconditional love and support throughout the good and bad times in our lives. Everyone that ever met you was immediately impressed by your kindness and welcoming heart. You treated everyone you knew like “family”. Our hearts break in your passing, but we know that there are some very special people on the other side that are rejoicing in your return. We understand that your love for us transcends death and we will feel that love throughout our journey here on Earth.
