Anna Olsen Banks

Anna Olsen Banks, 92, of Ogden peacefully passed away on November 1, 2011 with her loved ones by her side.

She was born September 4, 1919 in Arimo, Idaho. She was the fifth of six daughters born to Wilford and Luella Norton Olsen.

On June 28, 1938, Anna married Verl Wyman Banks with the ceremony being performed in the house that she was born in. On July 31, 1953, they solemnized their vows in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Idaho Falls Temple. Their union of love brought four children. Verl preceded her in death on November 23, 1992.

Anna was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her testimony of the gospel was exemplified by the service she rendered with love and commitment to her family, friends, and church. She faithfully served in the Primary of the Ogden 6th Ward, in the Sunday School of the Ogden 9th Ward, and in the Relief Society of the Ogden 13th Ward. She resided in the Lorin Farr 1st Ward prior to her attendance in the Crestwood Care Center Branch.

She worked for many years in the school lunch program in Pocatello, Idaho and then in Ogden. She loved to cook and she loved the children.

Anna''s favorite holiday was Christmas. She loved the spirit of the season, she loved the music, the lights, and she loved baking. She made coffee cakes, cookies, candy, caramel popcorn, and homemade donuts to share with her family and friends.

She enjoyed crocheting, playing Scrabble, cheering for the JAZZ, shopping, eating out and riding in the car anywhere. She loved picnics and fireworks and she always looked forward to the traditional outings to Lava Hot Springs and Bear Lake each summer.

Anna is survived by her four children, Gordon (EeLynn) Banks, Taylorsville; Marva (Don) Meidinger, Scottsdale, Arizona; Greg (Linda) Banks, Arvada, Colorado; and Shannon Banks, Ogden. She is also survived by Terry Penrod who she has claimed as part of her family for a very long time. Her posterity includes 18 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren (with 2 on the way) and 2 great-great-grandchildren (with 1 on the way).

She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, her five sisters, and a daughter-in-law.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 4, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road. A special thank you to Anna''s caregivers for the kind, compassionate and loving care they gave to her. A very special thanks to Dixie Stott who is indeed an angel among us.
