Anna Lee Cox Jensen
Anna Lee Cox Jensen was born in her parent’s home on September 17, 1928 in Fairview, Utah. She was the fourth child born to Charles Evan and Ora Minta Sanderson Cox and grew up in Sanpete County on the family farm. Mom passed away peacefully at Lakeview Hospital on April 8, 2015.
Mom attended schools in Fairview and Mt. Pleasant, Utah and graduated from North Sanpete High School Class of 1946. She also attended Snow College and the University of Utah. She married Verl Jensen on November 18, 1950 in Fairview, and they settled and raised their family in Clearfield.
Mom’s greatest joy in life was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and all were privileged to enjoy her cooking at family gatherings; our last gathering just this past February.
After dad’s retirement, mom and dad spent many winters on Dauphin Island off the coast of Alabama and developed a love for the people of the South. They spent summers in their fifth-wheel on mom’s ‘beloved mountain’ in Fairview Canyon. Mom frequently commented that the mountain property was her little piece of heaven on earth, and she loved to take day trips to the property in the last few years; we know mom is once again enjoying the beauty of her mountain property.
Mom is survived by her husband, her children and their spouses, Sue and Steve Jorgensen, Pat and Jeff Gillette, Greg and Natalie Jensen and daughter-in-law, Leesa Jensen Washburn. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 39 (soon to be 40) great-grandchildren and her sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Ned Shelley, and sister, Dorothy Lund. She also leaves behind many dear friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Jeff, her grandson, Cortlan Gillette, and her great-granddaughter, Audree Murdock, as well as her parents, a brother, Rex Cox, and sister, Ora Watson.
The family wishes to express their thankfulness for all of the compassionate care given to mom at Davis and Lakeview Hospitals and LTAC at the South Davis Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
