A truly amazing lady left this life on December 17, 2009. Anne B. Jones was born August 5, 1909 to Ole and Sarah Elton in Minneola, Minnesota. She was 100 years young.
When asked what the secret to her longevity was, she would always reply "Hard Work". This was a rule she lived by her whole life.
Anne married Frederick Mulligan. Together they had one daughter. After his untimely death, she married E. A. (Tex) Jones, and they had a son and a daughter. She lived alone for the last 28 years, but she was surrounded by loving neighbors, friends, and family.
She was the most genuine, fun loving, giving person anyone could ever know. She could make a lifelong friend 15 minutes after meeting them. Her passing has left a giant hole in so many hearts and she will be sorely missed.
During her life, Anne volunteered for many projects and committees including the Washington Terrace "Civic Improvement Committee, the Census Bureau, Teen Dances, many school activities and programs to name just a few. She was a PTA President and a past president of the Lakeside Golf Association.
Anne enjoyed her life to the fullest. She loved to cook, sew, garden, gamble, and golf. One of her many achievements was making a hole in one and paring the Riverside Golf Course. She belonged to the "Over 80" Golf Association and enjoyed every minute she spent there with her friends. She rode the bus to Wendover almost every other week and enjoyed many concerts there. She took a hot air balloon ride on her 99th birthday. Earlier this year she had lunch with the Governor, had her picture in the newspaper with another centenarian, and appeared in an article in another newspaper, as well.
Surviving are her 2 daughters, Bonnie Jean Pahls and Maryanne (Phil) Decaria, a daughter-in-law- Joanne Jones, 6 grandchildren, Dr. Wendell Pahls, Tony Pahls, Casey Jones, Kelly Jones, Tina Decaria, Scott Decaria, and 9 great-grandchildren. According to her, her grandchildren could do no wrong! She is also survived by four of her eleven siblings, Clara Rockswold, Alice Bjorson, Edith Burch and Gay Lindquist.
Anne was preceded in death by two husbands, her beloved son Michael John Jones and a precious granddaughter, Anna Marie Pahls.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Friends and family may call Wednesday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment will be at Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
