Anne Marie Pickett, 91, of South Ogden passed away on March 8, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Anne was born in Kansas City, Kansas and was married to the love of her life, Cliff Pickett, for 64 years; they lived in Ogden for over 71 years. They are finally together again. Anne and Cliff had five children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff; two sons, Bryan and Randy; son-in-law, Jeff Chuday; her parents, Roy and Dorothy Russell; brothers, Red (Willard), Rip (Roy), Tuck (Richard), and Tom Russell; and sisters, Nora and Patty Kelley.
She is survived by her children, Ron Pickett, Farla Leishman, and Dorothy Chuday, grandchildren, Darren Smith, Ronda (Kenny) Lister, Catie Holstein, Robbie Hershberger, Bobby (Laura) Holstein, Stefanie Elston, and Marika Pickett, great-grandchildren, Kylee Chuday, Shelby (Andrew) Hjort-Michel, Brandon Hershberger, Cassidy Smith, Justin and Jordan Hershberger, Justin (Lauren) Lister; Cameron and Randi Ward, Jordon Elston, Nathan Kartchner, Benjamin Bryan Whybrow, and Phineas and Genevieve Holstein, and her first great-great-grandchild, Alex Hjort-Michel. There are two more great-great-gran-children on the way, one this month to Nathan and Paula and one due in June to Justin and Lauren Lister. Anne is also survived by her sister, Nancy Bennett and her brother, Bill (Ramona) Russell. In recent years, Anne attended the Alpine Christian Church in Riverdale, Utah.
Anne’s greatest joy was her marriage and spending time with her children, grand-children, family and friends. She was a caring and happy person who worked hard, raised a lovely family and was kind to everyone she met. Anne had many jobs in the Ogden area which included administering civil service exams and 14 years at the United States Postal Service where she was one of the first female letter carriers in the area. She lived by the motto, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.” She had many pastimes during her long life which included a love of gardening and working in her yard; swimming, reading and sewing beautiful quilts and dolls for her grand-children. While her family was young, she loved to gather them for weekend camping, boating, water-skiing, fishing and hunting trips. She was very fit throughout her life and walked 5 miles a day for over 15 years. We often teased her that she had put more miles on her feet than the many RV trips she and Cliff spent their retirement years taking. They traveled the US and ultimately visited every state. She always found a new adventure around every corner.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice for Utah in Weber County for their compassionate, loving care this past year; especially Debbie Goff and Nicole Hyde. Also, much gratitude is extended to caretakers Shalee Allen and Ashley Schwinn.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
