Anne Volzke

September 20, 1932 — January 23, 2021

Anne Ella Volzke

Philippians 4:13  I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Psalms 48:14  For this God is our God forever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.

Psalms 73:26  My flesh and my heart may fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Anne Ella Volzke passed away suddenly on January 23, 2021.  She was born on September 20, 1932 to George William Liese and Mildred Jane Barnes in Westfield, Massachusetts.  Anne and her family moved when she was young to a farm in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  Anne graduated from high school and worked as a waitress when she met Harry Volzke and they were married on September 20, 1950.  They later married in the Oakland Temple on June 21, 1966.  They had six children and were married 44 years until Harry’s death.

Anne is survived by her sisters, Helen and Jeanette, and her two brothers Kenneth and Jerry, daughters, Patricia, Linda, Carol, Deann and son Michael, along with 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, daughter, Kathy and grandsons, Paul and Aaron.

Anne had six children to keep her busy through the years.  She was great at baking and there was always something baking in the oven.  Anne and Harry moved to Utah to be closer to family and friends and enjoyed meeting new people.

After the death of Harry, Anne started working for Lakeview Hospital in September of 1994 and she worked there until her retirement in December 2015 after 21 years of service.  She then started volunteering at the hospital almost immediately after she retired until March of 2020.

Anne can be remembered as a lady who loved working at Lakeview Hospital where she knew, every doctor, nurse and employee at Lakeview.  She always asked about their families and always dished out a lot of kidding on her part.  Her church ward was her family too.  She knew each family and could tell you their anniversaries, birthdays, children’s’ names and more.

She loved the Atlanta Braves baseball team and enjoyed talking to anyone about her Braves and Harry’s John Wayne Room.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 5, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Orchard Ward, 1533 N. 1075 W., Farmington.  Anne will be laid to rest next to her husband, Harry, at Farmington City Cemetery, Farmington, Utah.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.

Anne’s family would like to thank everyone in her ward that has helped our mother through the years in one way or another.  She was deeply blessed by this ward.
