Annette Wright Thomas

September 21, 1956 — February 19, 2023

Annette Wright Thomas, 66, of Layton, Utah unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023.  Annette was born on September 21, 1956 in Brigham City, Utah at the Cooley Memorial Hospital.  She was the second daughter of four born to Lawrence Lee Wright and Arlene Bertha Wight Wright.  Annette grew up in Perry, Utah.  She attended Perry Elementary, Box Elder Jr. High, and graduated from Box Elder High School in 1974.  She was a Sterling Scholar finalist in business for Box Elder High.

Annette loved all things about business!  She loved typing classes, shorthand classes, accounting classes, and she excelled in everything that she did.  She graduated with a computer science degree from Weber State.  Later she enrolled at Westminster College where she received an MBA.  Whatever Annette did, she did it well!

In 1994, Annette married Jeff Thomas in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They have lived in West Valley City, Riverton, Farmington, Ogden, and currently in Layton, Utah.   In the year 2000, a daughter, Chelsee Lauren Thomas joined their family.  Annette was thrilled to have a cute baby girl to dress and spoil.  In 2002, a son, Joshua Henry Thomas made their family complete.

Growing up, Annette loved to ski and tolerated snowmobile trips with the family. Annette and her sisters helped her dad pull weeds with his fruit farming adventure, enjoying delicious watermelons, cantaloupes and tomatoes.  Annette LOVED to swim! She truly was the “swim queen.”  When on vacation, Annette was the designated chaperone for the nieces and nephews to go swimming.  She loved it as much as they did!  Annette was looking forward to having her own pool in her backyard this spring.

Annette loved to shop!  She had her favorite stores and became great friends with many sales associates that she would encounter.  She was always looking out for a great deal and supplied her family and especially her mom Arlene with many of her shopping finds!  Annette “dressed to the nines” with the latest fashions available and always looked very professional.

Annette was a hard worker!  She excelled everywhere she was employed.  If something seemed hard, Annette would tirelessly work at the job until she could accomplish the task with ease.  Nothing seemed too big or too hard for her to tackle.  She was a very successful business woman and took pride in her career.  She was very intelligent and computer programming came very easily to her.  She retired from working in the spring of 2021.

Annette had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  She loved her Savior and recognized the many blessings that she had been given in her life.  She held many callings in the church, with her favorite calling being that of ward organist.  She loved to play the organ and the piano.

Annette is survived by her husband Jeff and son Josh, daughter Chelsee, sisters Laurie Hyde (Wade), Carol Drewes (David) and ChaRee Larsen (Rick) along with many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Ivor and Mary Thomas, her grandparents and other relatives.
