Anthony Nephi Hunt (Tony)

April 15, 1925 - September 15, 2015

Reunited again with his wife Joyce Hutchison Hunt and their two sons Douglas and Keith. Anthony Nephi Hunt, 90, passed away peacefully at George E. Wahlen Veterans Home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 15, 2015.

He was born April 15, 1925, in Enterprise, Utah to Nephi and Lydia Amelia Barlocker Hunt. He graduated from Enterprise High School. At the age of 18, Anthony was drafted into World War II and left for Fort Douglas, Salt Lake City, Utah to serve in the Army. During World War II he fought in Italy and France on the front lines.

He married Joyce Hutchison on September 10, 1946, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple, after returning home from World War II. They were blessed with three sons, Douglas Anthony (deceased), Roger Lynn and Keith Hutchison (deceased). There are eight grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. Joyce passed away on March 17, 2015.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed many callings; teacher, home teacher, bishopric, temple worker, and many more. He was a great example to us all and anyone who knew him. He loved to spend time with family members.

Over his lifetime Anthony graduated from Weber State College. He was employed by McNeil Construction Company, Las Vegas, Nevada; McCarrin Air Force training field, Las Vegas, Nevada; Williamson Auto Body Shop, Ogden, Utah; Ogden City Fire Department and Ogden Iron Works. Anthony retired from the Ogden City Fire Department after thirty years of service.

Anthony loved to hunt and fish and work in his medal shop. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa.

Anthony is survived by one son Roger Lynn Hunt and his wife LeeAnn; a daughter-in-law, Judy Mae Shelley Hunt, eight grandchildren Michael and Michelle Hunt, Anna and Paul Larsen, Laurie and John Armour, Jodie and Brian Peterson, Douglas Hunt, Brian and Margo Hunt, Tamara and Mike Russell, Julie and Matthew Flinders; thirty great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lavella Thomas, Enterprise, UT. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Hutchison Hunt, and two sons, Douglas Anthony Hunt, Keith Hutchison Hunt, his parents and seven sisters.

The family would like to give thanks to the caring and compassionate doctors, nurses, and staff at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday September 19, 2015, at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:45-1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, West Weber Cemetery.
