Anthony A. Pardini
OGDEN a" Anthony A. Pardini passed away Sunday, July 15, 2007 at Manor Care Nursing Center, at the age of 96.
He was born October 10, 1910 in Torre del Lago Puccini, Italy, the son of Armando and Evelina Benedetti Pardini. He came to America in December of 1924 and his first stop was Ellis Island, NY. He went to school at the age 14 to learn English. Then in seven years he went through all 12 years of school graduating in 1931 from Ashton High School in Ashton, Idaho at the age of 21. He was very active and lettered in sports, drama, and music.
On January 16, 1937, he married Delfa Orsi in St. Joseph''s Catholic Church in Ogden, Utah. Together they raised three daughters, and from this came 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
During the depression he joined the CCC Camp for three years. He then worked for the Pacific Fruit Express before going to work at the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1943. He worked as a fireman and later as an engineer, retiring in 1975 after 33 years of service.
Anthony was a member of St. James Catholic Church and was very active as a Eucharistic Minister, was in charge of bingo, and a member of the 4th Degree in the Knight of Columbus.
He loved to bowl, fish, and especially taking care of his yard.
Anthony leaves behind his wife of 70 and one-half years, Delfa, his children, AnnaMarie (Lewis) Atkinson, Rock Springs, WY; Antonette (Lester) Vaccari, San Bruno, CA; Angelina (Jerry) Alkema, Colorado and Arizona; sister Laura Brinkman, Roy; sister-in-law, Marta Martinelli, Millbrae, CA; niece Barbara Burdick, Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Al Pardini, a sister Leona Martin, a niece Sidnee Merrill, and a great-granddaughter Bryel Mliner.
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 495 North Harrison Blvd.
Friends may call at St. James Church on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. where Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
