OGDEN - February, 27, 1921 a€" August 11, 2007. Wesley "Torch" Hodgman passed in Sacramento into his eternal rest with his Heavenly Father while surrounded by his loving wife and family. Above all this talented and wonderful man accomplished, his love for his wife and family and for his Savior Jesus Christ always came first. Wesley''s life could be described by his many colorful experiences and outstanding achievements from his birth on a ranch in Idaho and baptism in a local river, to riding rodeo bulls, to his career as an industrial engineer in the aerospace and medical electronics industry.

However, from a larger perspective, his life is more accurately described as a beautiful love story. Wesley and his wife Nettie were married for 66 years, and, to the last minute of his life on earth they adored each other. At any opportunity, Wes would grab the nearest family member and have them look at Nettie across the room, and say "Isn''t she beautiful, I just love that woman." He continued to go on like this about his wife until the grand kids would say "Grandpa, that is enough." They loved each other with an eternal commitment. They enjoyed being with each other, and their lives were centered on each other. Needless to say, his loving wife Nettie will miss her partner and "buddy" dearly. This marriage example set by Wes and Nettie has set a standard for their three children and their fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. There is no doubt in family member''s minds about how they should love and respect their spouses. Wesley was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved going to church and loved the association with church members. As he became more ill, it became very hard for him to drive to church meetings, however, he would get up early, Nettie would help him get on his suit, white shirt and tie, and he would go the church, even though he was in much pain. Wesley "Tourch" Hodgman is survived by his wife Nettie, his daughter and her husband, Deborah and Robert Machado of Sacramento, his two sons and wives, Rick and Maria Hodgman of Singapore, and, Gary and Kathy Hodgman of Salt Lake City, his Brother Kenneth Hodgman, and his sister Burnice Bagley. He also leaves many wonderful nieces and nephews who usually call him "Uncle Torch". He received the name "Torch" when he was a young man because of his striking red hair.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 3 p.m. at the Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Friends may visit family Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 1:45 to 2: 45 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
