Archie Fred Hunt

June 23, 1930 ~ May 26, 2018

It has been said, “It’s not near as important how many years a fella has lived, as how many folks have been right glad he has.” Arch was one of those fellas.

Archie Fred Hunt, son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend…the guy with the million dollar smile that drew you back to him time and time again, passed from this life on May 26, 2018 at home surrounded by family. That smile returned to his face immediately upon his body being released from a recent illness.

He was born on June 23, 1930 to Bert and Thora Hunt in Plain City, Utah where he spent his early years working the farm with his parents, sister, and brother. He often told us that his mother had him worn out before he was born. He educated himself to run the dairy farm by himself after his father and brother Robert died in an electrical accident. That work ethic was born deep inside him and continues to affect all those who know and love him. Until the end he said he just needed more time because he had so much to do and too many people to thank.

Archie married the late Carol Taylor in March of 1951. They were blessed with two children, Teresa (Scott) Christensen and Mitch (Margie) Hunt. They were later divorced. He married the late Jan Lamb Noble in September of 1961. Steven Noble being his step-son (deceased). Later Arch married Maxene Lowder Hadley on March 18, 1982. Maxene passed away on December 15, 2014. This blended family included the following step-children: Alan Hadley (deceased), Jan (Joe) Greenwell, Kent Hadley (deceased) (Karen Cooper), and Lori Hales. Arch considered his blended children and in-laws as his own and loved them all dearly. He is also survived by his sister, Tamara (Brent) Lewis, 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Bert; and granddaughter, Megan Christensen.

Arch was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Because of his love of people he served for many years greeting those who attended meetings. He considered it a lifetime calling. He was a devoted home teacher and felt a strong desire to fulfill that calling faithfully. He loved the scriptures, particularly the Book of Mormon and was devoted to the Lord.
